High-sensitivity low-cost on-chip chemiluminescence detection based on intergrated organic photodiodes

Micro Total Analysis Systems - Proceedings of MicroTAS 2006 Conference: 10th International Conference on Miniaturized Systems for Chemistry and Life Sciences (2006) 753-755

Authors:

R Das, X Wang, O Hofmann, JC DeMello, AJ DeMello, DDC Bradley

Abstract:

We report the use of novel low-cost disposable organic photodiodes for high-sensitivity detection of on-chip chemiluminescence assays. By planar integration of the photodiode, spatial matching of the pixel size to the microchannel dimensions and by chemically tuning the detector responsivity to the luminescence emission we have achieved sensitivities equivalent to PMT based detection. This bodes well for the applicability of our disposable detection systems to point-of-care diagnostic testing. © 2006 Society for Chemistry and Micro-Nano Systems.

Monolithically integrated dye-doped PDMS optical filters for disposable on-chip fluorescence detection

Micro Total Analysis Systems - Proceedings of MicroTAS 2006 Conference: 10th International Conference on Miniaturized Systems for Chemistry and Life Sciences (2006) 720-722

Authors:

O Hofmann, X Wang, A Cornwell, S Beecher, A Raja, DDC Bradley, JC DeMello, AJ DeMello

Abstract:

We report on the fabrication of novel dye-doped PDMS microfluidic layers which concurrently serve as optical long-pass filters for on-chip fluorescence detection. In contrast to using discrete optical filters, doping of the microfluidic substrate presents a low-cost alternative affording high efficiency collection of the fluorescence signal. © 2006 Society for Chemistry and Micro-Nano Systems.
