A measurement of the η′ spin parity

Nuclear Physics, Section B 126:2 (1977) 189-202

Authors:

M Cerrada, F Wagner, V Chaloupka, RJ Hemingway, SO Holmgren, MJ Losty, PF Loverre, F Marzano, R Blokzijl, B Jongejans, GGG Massaro, DJ Schotanus, HG Tiecke, JJM Timmermans, B Foster, WL McDowell

Abstract:

The spin parity of the η′ (958) is studied in the reaction K-p → η'Λ at 4.2 GeV/c, using bubble chamber data with a statistical sensitivity of 128 events/μb. The data unambiguously prefer the 0- assignment. © 1977.

A partial-wave analysis of the 3π system in the reaction K-p → π+π-π0 Λ at 4.2 GeV/c

Nuclear Physics, Section B 126:2 (1977) 241-265

Authors:

M Cerrada, F Wagner, V Chaloupka, RJ Hemingway, SO Holmgren, MJ Losty, R Blokzijl, GGG Massaro, GF Wolters, PM Heinen, EW Kittel, WJ Metzger, JSM Vergeest, B Foster, J Wells

Abstract:

A partial-wave analysis of the (3π)0 system produced peripherally in the reaction K-p → π+π-π0 Λ at 4.2 GeV/c is presented. The observation of the weak Λ decay allows a determination of all the transversity production amplitudes except for two phases. The production of known resonances having decay modes other than 3π is used to test the isobar model ansatz. Significant ω(783), φ(1020) and A2(1310) production is observed. The spin parity of the ω*(1675) is established as 3-. No evidence for production of other resonances, such as axial vector-mesons, is found. © 1977.

Backward production of a spin parity 1+ϱπ enhancement at 1.04 GeV

Physics Letters B 69:1 (1977) 119-124

Authors:

P Gavillet, P Berge, A Ferrando, R Hemingway, SO Holmgren, M Losty, JC Marin, L Montanet, E Pagiola, N Yamdagni, R Blokzijl, B Jongejans, JC Kluyver, GGG Massaro, J Engeler, W Kittel, J Vergeest, R Van de Walle, B Foster, P Grossman, P Lamb, WL McDowell

Abstract:

A spin-parity 1+ρ{variant}π enhancement is observed for the 3π mass spectrum in the reaction K-p → Σ-π+π+π- where events with a small (K- → Σ-) momentum transfer are selected. The mass (1040 MeV) and width (230 MeV) of this enhancement are reminiscent of the A1 → ρ{variant}π bump which has mainly been observed in the diffractive-like processes. The cross section for this enhancement at 4.15 GeV/c incident K- momentum is (3.6 ± 0.5) μb. © 1977.

π - ω interference in the reactions K- p → π+ π- (Λ, ϵ0) at 4.2 GeV/ c

Physics Letters B 66:2 (1977) 191-196

Authors:

SO Holmgren, M Aguilar-Benitez, M Cerrada, RJ Hemingway, MJ Losty, RP Worden, B Jongejans, GGG Massaro, GF Wolters, JJ Engelen, DJ Schotanus, RT Van de Walle, B Foster, L Lyons, J Wells

Abstract:

π - ω interference is studied in the reactions K- p → π+ π- (Λ0, ε{lunate}) at 4.2 GeV/c using data from a high statistics experiments in the CERN 2m HBC. The phenomenon is analysed in terms of the conventional formalism as well as in terms of a new model for π - ω interference proposed by Earles and Srivastava. Satisfactory agreement with the data is found for both models. The rate of ω → 2π obtained in the latter model is in agreement with the VMD (Vector Meson Dominance) prediction for ω → γ → ρ{variant} → 2π. © 1977.
