I am Professor of Condensed Matter Physics at Oxford. My research explores the interplay of topology and magnetism in quantum materials.

I study how symmetry, electronic structure, and magnetic order combine to generate chiral spin textures, topological electronic phases, and unconventional transport phenomena. Rather than focusing on a specific synthesis technique, my work centres on identifying and stabilising the physical mechanisms that enable controllable topological magnetic states.

We combine materials development, advanced spectroscopy, and magneto-transport measurements, working closely with synchrotron facilities including the Diamond Light Source.

Consultancy

I am available for consultancy with companies developing advanced computing technologies, including neuromorphic hardware, AI-inspired computing systems, and related quantum and materials-enabled technologies.

I offer independent scientific and technical assessment of research directions, materials and device concepts, and technology portfolios, informed by an extensive publication portfolio spanning topological and quantum materials, spintronics and magnetologic devices, magnetic memory, neuromorphic and AI hardware, nanoscale sensors, and advanced thin-film growth and characterisation..

Consultancy engagements are administered through Oxford University Innovation, which will manage the contractual arrangements.
