The PA alpha deficit in IRAS 20100-4156

(2004) 101-102

Authors:

JR Valdes, A Bressan, S Berta, A Franceschini, G Rodighiero, D Rigopoulou

Abstract:

IRAS 20100-4156, being one of the most luminous local Ultraluminous Infrared Galaxies (ULIRCs), is one of the best templates for the analysis of high redshift dust enshrouded galaxies. We present the results of a NIR medium resolution spectroscopic study of this object, carried out with SOFI at ESO 3.5m NTT. Our detection of the Pa alpha line provides ideal constraints on the dust extinction, SFR and presence of an AGN.
