I am a theoretical condensed matter physicist. Born in India, I received my PhD from UCLA, spent a quarter century at Princeton and am now the Wykeham Professor of Physics at Oxford. I have worked on the quantum Hall effect (including the discovery of skyrmions), on quantum magnetism (sharing the Europhysics Prize for the discovery of magnetic monopoles), on the discovery of time crystals, and on quantum many body physics and statistical mechanics more broadly.
