  • The fate of the cross section - a poem

There was once a time
That the cross section did not need to fear
It was calculated at leading order
And no problem did appear

But then people decided to calculate
Its first order correction
This was the start of all the trouble
And immediately gained a lot of attraction

Logs are the cause of our concerns
As these things can grow arbitrary big
The cross section’s convergence is now no longer guaranteed
And this makes the perturbative series incredibly sick

To make the situation even more bleak
The next order is only going to worsen the situation
Will the cross section get the change to converge
And can there ever be an end to this devastation?

Luckily people invented a cure
Which came In the form of resummation
It renders the cross section finite again
Potentially saving it from eternal damnation

But alas, the cure only works for the biggest
And most severe logs of the series
How to save the cross section from the smaller, but still dangerous terms?
Read my work to get to know my theories.
