Abstract:

We search for pair production of doubly charged Higgs particles (H±±) followed by decays into electron-tau (eτ) and muon-tau (μτ) pairs using data (350pb-1) collected from p̄p collisions at s=1.96TeV by the CDF II experiment. We search separately for cases where three or four final-state leptons are detected, and combine results for exclusive decays to left-handed eτ (μτ) pairs. We set an H±± lower mass limit of 114(112)GeV/c2 at the 95% confidence level. © 2008 The American Physical Society.

Abstract:

Inclusive K_{S};{0}K_{S};{0} production in ep collisions at the DESY ep collider HERA was studied with the ZEUS detector using an integrated luminosity of 0.5 fb;{-1}. Enhancements in the mass spectrum were observed and are attributed to the production of f_{2}(1270)/a_{2};{0}(1320), f_{2};{'}(1525) and f_{0}(1710). Masses and widths were obtained using a fit which takes into account theoretical predictions based on SU(3) symmetry arguments, and are consistent with the Particle Data Group values. The f_{0}(1710) state, which has a mass consistent with a glueball candidate, was observed with a statistical significance of 5 standard deviations. However, if this state is the same as that seen in gammagamma-->K_{S};{0}K_{S};{0}, it is unlikely to be a pure glueball state.

Abstract:

The process p over(p, ̄) → γ + jet + X is studied using 1.0 fb-1 of data collected by the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron p over(p, ̄) collider at a center-of-mass energy sqrt(s) = 1.96   TeV. Photons are reconstructed in the central rapidity region | yγ | < 1.0 with transverse momenta in the range 30 < pTγ < 400   GeV while jets are reconstructed in either the central | yjet | < 0.8 or forward 1.5 < | yjet | < 2.5 rapidity intervals with pTjet > 15   GeV. The differential cross section d3 σ / d pTγ d yγ d yjet is measured as a function of pTγ in four regions, differing by the relative orientations of the photon and the jet in rapidity. Ratios between the differential cross sections in each region are also presented. Next-to-leading order QCD predictions using different parameterizations of parton distribution functions and theoretical scale choices are compared to the data. The predictions do not simultaneously describe the measured normalization and pTγ dependence of the cross section in the four measured regions.
