Observation of χcJ radiative decays to light vector mesons

Abstract:
Using a total of 2.74×107 decays of the ψ(2S) collected with the CLEO-c detector, we present a study of χcJ→γV, where V=ρ0, ω, □. The transitions χc1→γρ0 and χc1→γω are observed with B(χc1→γρ0)=(2. 43±0.19±0.22)×10-4 and B(χc1→γω)=(8. 3±1.5±1.2)×10-5. In the χc1→γρ0 transition, the final state meson is dominantly longitudinally polarized. Upper limits on the branching fractions of other χcJ states to light vector mesons are presented. © 2008 The American Physical Society.Measurement of the inclusive jet cross section at the Fermilab Tevatron pp̄ collider using a cone-based jet algorithm

Abstract:
We present a measurement of the inclusive jet cross section in pp̄ collisions at s=1.96TeV based on data collected by the CDF II detector with an integrated luminosity of 1.13fb-1. The measurement was made using the cone-based midpoint jet clustering algorithm in the rapidity region of |y|<2.1. The results are consistent with next-to-leading-order perturbative QCD predictions based on recent parton distribution functions (PDFs), and are expected to provide increased precision in PDFs at high parton momentum fraction x. The results are also compared to the recent inclusive jet cross section measurement using the kT jet clustering algorithm, and we find that the ratio of the cross sections measured with the two algorithms is in agreement with theoretical expectations over a large range of jet transverse momentum and rapidity. © 2008 The American Physical Society.An overview of the status of the LHCb RICH detectors

Abstract:
The LHCb experiment will make precision measurements of CP violation and rare b-hadron decays. Efficient particle identification with high purity over a wide momentum range is vital to these aims. The experiment employs two ring-imaging Cherenkov (RICH) detectors with three radiators, silica aerogel, C4F10 and CF4, to cover the momentum range from around 1-100 GeV/c. The RICH system employs a number of innovative techniques, both in hardware and software. A total of 484 custom-built pixel Hybrid Photon Detectors (HPDs) will be used to measure the spatial positions of Cherenkov photons with wavelengths in the range 200-600 nm, covering an active area of around 3.3 m2. The production of the HPDs has now been completed and the tube quality, including the photo-cathode quantum efficiency, far exceeds expectations. The installation of RICH 1 is almost complete; RICH 2 has been installed and aligned, and commissioning is almost complete. Reconstruction studies incorporating realistic backgrounds indicate excellent kaon efficiencies of around 97% and pion misidentification probabilities of around 6%, averaged over the full momentum range. This paper provides a general overview of the status of the LHCb RICH project, with emphasis on the readiness for LHC start-up and for physics. © 2008 Elsevier B.V. Abstract:
We search for pair production of doubly charged Higgs particles (H+/- +/-) followed by decays into electron-tau (etau) and muon-tau (mutau) pairs using data (350 pb(-1) collected from [over]pp collisions at sqrt[s]=1.96 TeV by the CDF II experiment. We search separately for cases where three or four final-state leptons are detected, and combine results for exclusive decays to left-handed etau (mutau) pairs. We set an H+/- +/- lower mass limit of 114(112) GeV/c(2) at the 95% confidence level.Search for docubly charged higgs bosons with lepton-rlavor-violating decays involving τ leptons
