A search for heavy stable and long-lived squarks and sleptons in e+e- collisions at energies from 130 to 183 GeV
Physics Letters, Section B: Nuclear, Elementary Particle and High-Energy Physics 444:3-4 (1998) 491-502
Abstract:
A search for stable and long-lived heavy charged particles used the data taken by the DELPHI experiment at energies from 130 to 183 GeV. The Cherenkov light detected in the Ring Imaging Cherenkov Detector and the ionization loss measured in the Time Projection Chamber identify heavy particles from masses of 2 to nearly 89 GeV/c2. Upper limits are given on the production cross-section and masses of sleptons, free squarks with a charge of q = ± 2/3e and hadronizing squarks. © 1998 Elsevier Science B.V. Physics Letters, Section B: Nuclear, Elementary Particle and High-Energy Physics 443:1-4 (1998) 394-408
Abstract:
The cross section for the photoproduction of events containing three jets with a three-jet invariant mass of M31 > 50 GeV has been measured with the ZEUS detector at HERA. The three-jet angular distributions are inconsistent with a uniform population of the available phase space but are well described by parton shower models and script O sign(α α2s) pQCD calculations. Comparisons with the parton shower model indicate a strong contribution from initial state radiation as well as a sensitivity to the effects of colour coherence. © 1998 Elsevier Science B.V. Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research, Section A: Accelerators, Spectrometers, Detectors and Associated Equipment 411:2-3 (1998) 249-264
Abstract:
A ring-imaging Cherenkov detector, equipped with hybrid photon detectors, has been operated in a charged-particlc beam. Focussed ring images from various particle types were detected using silica aerogel, air and C4F10 gas radiators. The detector, a prototype for the CERN LHC-B experiment, is described and first observations are reported, © IWS Elsevier Science B.V.
