$D^0-\bar{D^0}$ Mixing and Rare Charm Decays
ArXiv hep-ph/0310076 (2003)
Abstract:
We review the current status of flavor-changing neutral currents in the charm sector. We focus on the standard-model predictions and identify the main sources of theoretical uncertainties in both charm mixing and rare charm decays. The potential of these observables for constraining short-distance physics in the standard model and its extensions is compromised by the presence of large nonperturbative effects. We examine the possible discovery windows in which short-distance physics can be tested and study the effects of various extensions of the standard model. The current experimental situation and future prospects are reviewed.A Million Element Integral Field Unit (MEIFU)

Abstract:
We describe an instrument concept that will provide simultaneous spectra for a million spatial samples on the sky. With the proposed field of view and spectral resolution, it will be able to measure redshifts and line strengths for around 2-4000 z~3-7 galaxies in a 16 night campaign. The main science driver is to obtain a complete census of the star formation properties of galaxies with 2.5Study of the q2 dependence of B→πlν and of B→ρ(ω)lν and extraction of |Vub|

Abstract:
We report on determinations of |Vub| resulting from studies of the branching fraction and q2 distributions in exclusive semileptonic B decays that proceed via the b→u transition. Our data set consists of the 9.7×106 BB̄ meson pairs collected at the Y(4S) resonance with the CLEO II detector. We measure B(B0→π -ℓ+ν)=(1.33±0.18±0.11± 0.01±0.07)×10-4 and B(B0→ρ -ℓ+ν)=(2.17±0.34-0.54+0.47±0.41 ±0.01)×10-4, where the errors are statistical, experimental systematic, systematic due to residual form-factor uncertainties in the signal, and systematic due to residual form-factor uncertainties in the cross-feed modes, respectively. We also find B(B+→ηℓ+ν)=(0.84±0.31± 0.16±0.09)×10-4, consistent with what is expected from the B→πℓν mode and quark model symmetries. We extract |V ub| using light-cone sum rules for 0≤q2<16GeV 2 and lattice QCD for 16 GeV2≤q2Circular Polarisation Observations of SS433
