A DPhil student working in the ion trap quantum computing group on the cavity networking experiment. The aim of this experiment is to develop an ion trap that could be used as a node in a modular quantum computer, using cavities to improve the speed of the photonic interconnects between nodes and investigating other ways to make the nodes more easy to scale to large systems
