I am a DPhil student (started in 2024) in theoretical condensed matter physics. My supervisor is prof. Steven Simon and I have worked on projects both with him and with prof. Parameswaran.
My primary reserach interest is based around quantum Hall physics. This includes researching aspects of the non-Abelian state at filling fraction 5/2, and more recently studies of fractional Chern insulators, systems which can show fractional quantum Hall-like physics on a lattice. A particularly exciting recent direction has been investigating the possibility of the exotic "anyon superconductity" in certain Moiré platforms which realise fractional Chern insulators.
Beyond quantum Hall, I am also interested in variational Monte Carlo as a numerical method, and I am trying to understand how and why the method can work well, especially in cases where the variational wavefunctions are specified by large neural networks.
