Research
My research focuses on understanding the structure and evolution of galaxies. This draws upon methods from classical mechanics, statistical physics, plasma physics and others. A particularly rewarding aspect of this work is the opportunity to test theoretical galaxy models against observation, which poses challenging inference problems.
Teaching
I lecture the first-year course on Vectors & Matrices and a fourth-year MMathPhys course on galactic and planetary dynamics. I'm a fellow of Jesus College, where I tutor undergraduate mathematics, quantum mechanics and fluids courses.
