I am a Senior Researcher working within the Superconducting Quantum Detector Group. We develop new detector technologies for existing and future astronomical telescope, in particular the millimetre and sub-millimetre wavelength regime, and quantum computation technologies. Our main focus currently is on the fundamental understanding and development of quantum detectors such as Superconductor-Insulator-Superconductor (SIS) mixers and superconducting parametric amplifiers (SPAs) to achieve the ultimate sensitivity required from these applications from microwave to THz frequencies.

Lensing of space time around a black hole. At Oxford we study black holes observationally and theoretically on all size and time scales - it is some of our core work.
