Abstract:

The inclusive cross section for production of isolated photons has been measured in pp macro collisions at square root of s = 630 GeV with the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. The photons span a transverse energy (E(T)) range from 7-49 GeV and have pseudorapidity absolute value of eta < 2.5. This measurement is combined with the previous D0 result at square root of s = 1800 GeV to form a ratio of the cross sections. Comparison of next-to-leading-order QCD with the measured cross section at 630 GeV and the ratio of cross sections show satisfactory agreement in most of the E(T) range.

Abstract:

An attempt was made to search for new physics using LS dilepton events in association with two or more jets and ∄ T in pp̄ collisions at s=1.8 Te V. Within a framework of constrained MSSM (five degenerate squarks, M q̃- ≳ 0.9M g̃), for small tanβ, mass limits of M g̃ > 168 GeV/ c 2 were set for M g̃ >> M g̃, and M g̃ > 221 GeV/c 2 for M g̃ ≃ M g̃, both with small variation as a function of μ.

Abstract:

We report the first observation of diffractive J/psi(--> mu+mu-) production in pp collisions at root square[s] = 1.8 TeV. Diffractive events are identified by their rapidity gap signature. In a sample of events with two muons of transverse momentum p(mu)T>2 GeV/c within the pseudorapidity region /eta/ < 1.0, the ratio of diffractive to total J/psi production rates is found to be R(J/psi) = [1.45 +/- 0.25]%. The ratio R(J/psi)(x) is presented as a function of x-Bjorken. By combining it with our previously measured corresponding ratio R(jj)(x) for diffractive dijet production, we extract a value of 0.59 +/- 0.15 for the gluon fraction of the diffractive structure function of the proton.

Abstract:

A method called QUAERO, for automatic optimization of searches for physics beyond the standard model is presented. The method provides a mechanism that allows the availability of high energy collider data. The algorithms used in QUAERO and the final states available for analysis are described. Results showed that the limits obtained on application of the method to standard model and resonant production are comparable to those from previous searches at hadron colliders.
