Measurement of the Drell-Yan cross section in pp collisions at √ s = 7 TeV
Journal of High Energy Physics 2011:10 (2011)
Abstract:
The Drell-Yan differential cross section is measured in pp collisions at √ s = 7TeV, from a data sample collected with the CMS detector at the LHC, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 36 pb-1. The cross section measurement, normalized to the measured cross section in the Z region, is reported for both the dimuon and dielectron channels in the dilepton invariant mass range 15{600 GeV. The normalized cross section values are quoted both in the full phase space and within the detector acceptance. The effect of final state radiation is also identified. The results are found to agree with theoretical predictions. Abstract:
Using the ATLAS detector, a centrality-dependent suppression has been observed in the yield of J/Ψ mesons produced in the collisions of lead ions at the Large Hadron Collider. In a sample of minimum-bias lead-lead collisions at a nucleon-nucleon centre of mass energy sNN=2.76 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of about 6.7 μb-1, J/Ψ mesons are reconstructed via their decays to μ+μ- pairs. The measured J/Ψ yield, normalized to the number of binary nucleon-nucleon collisions, is found to significantly decrease from peripheral to central collisions. The centrality dependence is found to be qualitatively similar to the trends observed at previous, lower energy experiments. The same sample is used to reconstruct Z bosons in the μ+μ- final state, and a total of 38 candidates are selected in the mass window of 66 to 116 GeV. The relative Z yields as a function of centrality are also presented, although no conclusion can be inferred about their scaling with the number of binary collisions, because of limited statistics. This analysis provides the first results on J/Ψ and Z production in lead-lead collisions at the LHC. © 2011 CERN.Measurement of the inclusive Φ cross-section in pp collisions at s=7 TeV

Abstract:
The cross-section for inclusive Φ meson production in pp collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of s=7 TeV has been measured with the LHCb detector at the Large Hadron Collider. The differential cross-section is measured as a function of the Φ transverse momentum pT and rapidity y in the region 0.6Measurement of the lepton charge asymmetry in inclusive W production in pp collisions at √s = 7 TeV

Abstract:
A measurement of the lepton charge asymmetry in inclusive pp → WX production at √s = 7TeV is presented based on data recorded by the CMS detector at the LHC and corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 36 pb -1. This high precision measurement of the lepton charge asymmetry, performed in both the W → eν and W → μν channels, provides new insights into parton distribution functions.
