Abstract:

A search for squarks and gluinos in final states containing jets, missing transverse momentum and no electrons or muons is presented. The data were recorded by the ATLAS experiment in √s=7 TeV proton-proton collisions at the Large Hadron Collider. No excess above the Standard Model background expectation was observed in 35 pb-1 of analysed data. Gluino masses below 500 GeV are excluded at the 95% confidence level in simplified models containing only squarks of the first two generations, a gluino octet and a massless neutralino. The exclusion increases to 870 GeV for equal mass squarks and gluinos. In MSUGRA/CMSSM models with tanβ=3, A0=0 and μ>0, squarks and gluinos of equal mass are excluded below 775 GeV. These are the most stringent limits to date. © 2011 CERN.

Abstract:

Results are presented of a search for supersymmetric particles in events with large missing transverse momentum and at least one heavy flavour jet candidate in √s=7 TeV proton-proton collisions. In a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 35 pb-1 recorded by the ATLAS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider, no significant excess is observed with respect to the prediction for Standard Model processes. For R-parity conserving models in which sbottoms (stops) are the only squarks to appear in the gluino decay cascade, gluino masses below 590 GeV (520 GeV) are excluded at the 95% C.L. The results are also interpreted in an MSUGRA/CMSSM supersymmetry breaking scenario with tanβ=40 and in an SO(10) model framework. © 2011 CERN.

Search for the Standard Model Higgs boson in final states with b quarks at the Tevatron

Proceedings of Science 2011-July (2011)

Abstract:

We present the result of searches for a low mass Standard Model Higgs boson produced in association with a W or a Z boson at a center-of-mass energy of √s =1.96 TeV with the CDF and D0 detectors at the Fermilab Tevatron collider. The search is performed in events containing one or two b tagged jets in association with either two leptons, or one lepton and an imbalance in transverse energy, or simply a large imbalance in transverse energy. Datasets corresponding to up to 8.5 fb-1 of integrated luminosity are considered in the analyses. These are the most powerful channels in the search for a low mass Higgs boson at the Tevatron. Recent sensitivity improvements are discussed. For a Higgs mass of 115 GeV/c2, the expected sensitivity for the most sensitive individual analyses reaches 2.3 times the SM prediction at 95% confidence level (C.L.), with all limits below 5 times the SM. Additionally, a WZ/ZZ cross-section measurement is performed to validate the analysis techniques deployed for searching for the Higgs.

Abstract:

The aim of CRESST (Cryogenic Rare Event Search with Superconducting Thermometers) is to search for particle dark matter via elastic scattering off nuclei. The experiment is located at the Laboratori Nazionali del Gran Sasso (LNGS), Italy, and it uses low-background cryogenic detectors with superconducting phase-transition thermometers for the direct detection of WIMPnucleus scattering events. © 2011 Elsevier B.V. Top quark physics at CDF

Proceedings of Science 2011-July (2011)

Abstract:

We present the recent results of top-quark physics using up to 6 fb-1 of pp̄ collisions analyzed by the CDF collaboration. The large number of top quark events analyzed, of the order of several thousands, allows stringent checks of the standard model predictions. Also, the top quark is widely believed to be a window to new physics. We present the latest measurements of top quark intrinsic properties as well as direct searches for new physics in the top sector.
