In the Noel Group we are interested in new and emerging material systems such as halide perovskites, where high quality thin-films can be formed either from casting a precursor ink, or from simple thermal evaporation. With expertise spanning fundamental materials chemistry to device physics, we use cutting edge characterisation tools to probe and understand the impact of composition and crystallisation dynamics on the optoelectronic quality of semiconductor films. Our goal is to use fundamental chemical and physical insights to improve the performance of a variety of optoelectronic devices, including solar cells and light-emitting diodes
